The 5th ITUC Asia Pacific Regional Conference Officially Held, Here are the Series of Activities

ACV-CSCIASIA.ORG, BANGKOK – As a quarterly mandate, the regional labor union ITUC Asia Pacific is holding its 5th Conference in Bangkok Thailand, on 19-22 November 2023.

The series of conferences begins with a women’s conference and a youth conference which will be held on November 19 2023.

“It was a very interesting conference, because it reviewed the journey of the committee over the past 4 years.” said Maria Emeninta, ACV-CSCIAsia Regional Coordinator during the conference agenda.

Maria explained, after half a day each of them elaborated on each of their affiliates, and then in the next half day a joint event was held, a joint event to formulate what transformation efforts were being made to further strengthen the committee for the progress of ITUC AP and all its affiliates in the Asian region. Pacific.

Meanwhile, the ITUC AP Congress agenda was held today, Monday (20/11/2023), present at the opening were a total of 62 ITUC AP affiliate organizations with 34 representative countries, with 256 valid delegates, consisting of 183 and 54.6. % women or 100 people.

“You can see how respectful the youth are with the presence of 23 youth representatives.” explained Maria.

This congress took the theme “Moving Forward in Solidarity Together.” The opening event included remarks including from the President of ITUC AP, Felix Anthoni from Fiji, from international affairs there was Luc Triangle as Secretary General of ITUC, then there were representatives from the ILO present physically and online. Also present was the host labor union NCTL along with 3 other labor unions.

Opened directly by the Thai Minister of Manpower, the ITUC Congress will determine the election of its management, the preparation of work programs, and also the preparation of recommendations and resolutions. (RED/Handi)
