JAKARTA – Workers from the Indonesian Trade Union Confederation attended a meeting of the Working Committee of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives on the Draft Manpower Bill in Jakarta on Tuesday (September 23, 2025).
Commission IX, held a meeting of the Working Committee on the Draft Manpower Bill. The meeting was scheduled to hear input from representatives of several trade union confederations, including the Indonesian Workers’ Association KSBSI, who presented their views and input on the Manpower Bill.
KSBSI President, Elly Rosita Silaban, emphasized that KSBSI remains committed to championing the rights of workers and their families through policy advocacy and its influence on the Manpower Bill.
“KSBSI has submitted a draft revision of the Manpower Bill to Commission IX Working Committee meeting, which contains approximately 60 main points and suggestions.” said Elly Rosita Silaban when met at the KSBSI Secretariat in Jakarta, Wednesday (24/09/2025).
Elly Rosita Silaban tirelessly reminds all state institutions to adhere to the constitution. She emphasized the need for the Indonesian House of Representatives to adhere to the procedures and formal requirements for drafting legislation.
“We ask that Commission IX strictly comply with the Constitutional Court’s order requiring the law-making process to involve meaningful public participation,” she said.
With this Working Committee agenda, she hopes that input from labor unions will be heard and accommodated, resulting in the creation of regulations that can guarantee the shared welfare of labor stakeholders. (RED/Handi)
