Jakarta – The All-Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSBSI) received a visit from Luc Triangle, Secretary General of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) International, and Shoya Yoshida, Secretary General of the ITUC Asia-Pacific, at the KSBSI Secretariat at Cipinang Muara Raya No. 33, East Jakarta, on Tuesday (11/11/2025).
This visit marked the first time the ITUC Secretary General, Luc Triangle had visited Indonesia, and he took the time to visit the KSBSI Secretariat in Jakarta to exchange views and discuss issues.
“This visit is a historic moment for KSBSI and the national labor movement, as we are visited by global labor figures. We exchanged views on labor issues both nationally and internationally,” said KSBSI President, Elly Rosita Silaban.

In a discussion held at the KSBSI Office, Luc mentioned three important things that should be the focus of national confederations, both globally and in Indonesia.
First, we must not underestimate the democratic values we currently hold. Currently, the increasing intensity of authoritarian and right-wing governments is causing a decline in democracy worldwide. People’s rights to democracy are being attacked, and the space for expression is being restricted. This makes the role of labor unions increasingly crucial in protecting these rights.
Second, fair taxation must also be a focus of labor unions’ struggles. We see the growing number of billionaires worldwide widening the gap between the rich and the poor. Without a more equitable redistribution of wealth, social peace will not be achieved in this world.
Third, the world is currently facing an era of transition, both technological and energy transitions due to climate change.
“We must be ready to discuss this issue with the government and employers, because future issues must be discussed now. We cannot lose momentum to discuss and ensure a just transition for workers globally, and especially in Indonesia and the rest of the Global South,” said Luc Triangle.
Furthermore, Luc stated that the Indonesian labor unions’ fight against the Omnibus Law will not stop with a victory in the Constitutional Court. President Prabowo’s promise to prioritize workers in the deliberations on the revision of the new Manpower Law must be upheld to ensure this becomes a reality.

Adding to this, Shoya Yoshida also explained how since 2020, the ITUC has been working with the KSBSI and other affiliates in the fight against the Omnibus Law.
“This is a prime example of how collaborative national and international campaigns can change regulations that are not in favor of workers,” said Shoya.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto received Luc Triangle, Secretary General of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), and Shoya Yoshida, Secretary General of the ITUC-Asia Pacific, at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday (November 10, 2025).
Manpower Minister Yassierli explained that the meeting served as a forum for exchanging views on the employment situation, both in Indonesia and globally.
According to him, the meeting also discussed updates on the employment situation in Indonesia and input from the ITUC regarding international conditions.
This meeting affirmed the Indonesian government’s commitment to continuing to strengthen social dialogue with international and national labor organizations to ensure the creation of a fair, productive, and sustainable employment ecosystem. (RED/Handi)
