Regional Training on Climate Change and Social Protection

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – The President and Leaders of the Cambodia Community Farmer Federation (CCFC) actively participated in a regional training workshop on Climate Change and Social Protection System Strengthening, held from November 16 to 22, 2025, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The one-week training workshop was organized by Oxfam in collaboration with partners from Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, and regional organizations. The objective was to strengthen the capacity of organizations and institutions working with farmers and workers in both formal and informal economies, as well as self-employed individuals in the agri-food sector. Participants focused on critical areas such as strengthening the climate change emergency response mechanism, ensuring citizens benefit from the inclusiveness of national policies, impact reduction strategies, climate risk assessment methodologies, including an in-depth review of incorporating gender responsiveness, just transition, and establishing an effective social protection system as a shield to protect the most vulnerable farmer and worker communities from the impacts of climate change.

The CCFC leaders demonstrated a high commitment to absorbing this new knowledge through engaging in discussions and exchanging views with experts and representatives from countries in the region. The CCFC expects to bring back valuable experience and modern climate work techniques to implement and disseminate to communities and stakeholders in Cambodia. This work will help strengthen the resilience of local communities in preparing for and responding to the negative impacts of climate change at both the national and international levels.

Participation in this important regional forum clearly demonstrates CCFC’s dedication to environmental sustainability and durable community development. The CCFC will continue to expand regional and national cooperation to promote awareness and drive practical actions related to protecting the planet for future generations, while simultaneously fostering a green environment for sustainable environmental protection.
