To Promote Decent Work, ACV-CSC International Asia Holds Human Rights Due Diligence Seminar

ACV-CSCIASIA.ORG, JAKARTA – ACV-CSC International Asia held a seminar titled “Achieving Decent Work in Global Supply Chains in Asia by Strengthening Human Rights Due Diligence” in Jakarta on Tuesday (March 10, 2026).

The seminar was attended by representatives of labor unions partnering with ACV-CSC International, particularly those in Asia, including CLC Cambodia, GEFONT Nepal, NTUC Nepal, CFTUI India, and KMU Philippines.

The speakers included Patuan Samosir, ITUC AP; Valkyrie Honson, ILO Bangkok; Harniaty, General Director of the Ministry of Human Rights, Government of Indonesia; Prof. Dr. Huib Huyse, Researcher at the HIVA Labour Institute, University of Leuven, Belgium (online); and Tauvik Muhamad, Project Coordinator, ILO Jakarta.

Welcome remarks and opening remarks of the workshop. “How do trade unions address the challenges of HRDD in the face of a non-trend labor issue?” by Elly Rosita Silaban, President of KSBSI.

“KSBSI affirms its commitment to continuously monitoring HRDD issues in Indonesia and internationally, by continuing to push for the implementation of legislation stating that an HRDD assessment system is mandatory for responsible businesses,” said Elly.

Meanwhile, Jeroen Roskams, ACV-CSC International, took the opportunity to further explain HRDD, network trade unionism, and its importance for ACV-CSC.

The first session, on “Strategic challenges for resilient supply chains and strengthening labor in supply chains in Asia,” was presented by Valkyrie Hanson, ILO Regional Office Bangkok; Patuan Samosir, Senior Director on Human Rights and Labor Standards, ITUC Asia Pacific; and Harniaty, General Director of the Ministry of Human Rights, Government of Indonesia.

The second session, on “Towards worker-centered human rights due diligence,” was presented by Prof. Dr. Huib Huyse, Researcher at the HIVA Labor Institute, University of Leuven, Belgium (online).

The third session, on “Toolbox for trade union representatives to address HRDD in the company,” was presented by Tauvik Muhamad, Project Coordinator of ILO Jakarta.
