On October 30, 2026, an ACV Belgium team consisting of Jeroen Vandamme, representative of ACV-CSC Puls; Leen Vanderhulst, representative of ACV-CSC Metea Belgium; Prof. Huib Huyse (Head of the Sustainable Development Research Group at the Labor and Society Research Institute (HIVA) in Leuven, Belgium); and Jaklien D. Broekx, representative of WSM, a non-governmental organization active in the labor movement in Belgium, also conducted a working visit to Bitung, North Sulawesi.
This was part of the ACV-CSCI Belgium working visit to Indonesia to map and develop a strategy for strengthening the implementation of respect for Business and Human Rights in Indonesia.
During their visit to Bitung, the team met with members and branch administrators of the Food, Beverage, Tourism, Restaurant, Hotel, and Tobacco Trade Union Federation. They received a warm welcome from members, commissariat administrators, and management representatives during a meeting at the branch secretariat.
The team also had the opportunity to visit a fisheries company, PT Deho Indonesia, a tuna cannery, where they discussed and inspected the work site.

Leen Vanderhulst appreciated the company’s ongoing social dialogue practices, noting that it is crucial and reinforces the Collective Labor Agreement’s provisions on workers’ rights and obligations.
Rusdianto, Head of the FSB KAMIPARHO Bitung City Branch, said that this visit was to ensure that human rights in the workplace were implemented properly. He welcomed it positively with the hope that wages, protection for women, K3, and labor rights, which are included in Human Rights, could be implemented properly.
