KSBSI and TUAC Hold Workshop on OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises in Jakarta

ACVCSCIASIA.ORG, JAKARTA – The All Indonesian Trade Union Confederation (KSBSI) held a workshop on the OECD Guidelines for MNEs on RBC and A Just Transition in Jakarta, April 22-23, 2026.

This workshop aimed to provide a better understanding of the OECD guidelines on business conduct and a Just Transition for multinational enterprises and their supply chains.

This workshop was held in collaboration with the Trade Union Advisory Committee (TUAC), the official trade union partner of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). KSBSI is the only TUAC-affiliated confederation in Indonesia.

KSBSI President, Elly Rosita Silaban, in her remarks thanked TUAC for organizing this OECD workshop. She expressed her hope that this would not be the first or last time, but that this collaboration would continue in the future.

“It should be noted that we invited representatives from six major confederations in Indonesia to participate in this workshop so that everyone can learn about OECD issues, as Indonesia is in the process of becoming a permanent member of the OECD,” said Elly.

Elly hopes that workshop participants will be able to follow the event effectively and deepen their understanding of labor issues and the complaints mechanisms outlined in the OECD guidelines.

As is well known, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct are recognized as “the leading international standard on how companies and investors should address their impacts on people, the planet, and society. The Guidelines apply to businesses and investors of all sectors, sizes, and ownership structures, and cover all key sustainability issues – from climate change to technology, from anti-corruption to human rights and labor standards.”

Governments that sign the Guidelines must establish National Contact Points (NCPs) to promote responsible business conduct and handle complaints related to the behavior of specific companies operating in or from their countries.

TUAC works closely with the OECD, NCPs, and national trade unions to improve and better implement the Guidelines, ensure effective NCP bodies and processes, and encourage unions to engage with both to achieve decent work.

TUAC assists unions in preparing and raising concerns about company behavior that does not meet OECD standards, and collaborates with NCPs to follow up on these concerns and agree on satisfactory solutions.

Present at the event were Dr. Edi Prio Pambudi, S.E., MA, a representative from the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, as Deputy for Coordination of Economic Cooperation and Investment, and his staff; representatives from the OECD Indonesia; Veronika Nilsen, Secretary General of the Trade Union Advisory Committee to the OECD, and his staff; representatives from six major Indonesian confederations; and representatives from the KSBSI affiliated federations.
