The Confederation of All Indonesian Trade Unions (KSBSI) officially appointed the Chief of the Indonesian National Police (Kapolri), General Police Listyo Sigit Prabowo, as an honorary member of the KSBSI. The appointment was outlined in a decree (SK) from the 2026 KSBSI National Working Meeting (Rakernas), read by KSBSI President Elly Rosita Silaban at the closing ceremony of the Rakernas held at the Grand Sahid Hotel.
On that occasion, Elly read out all the decisions contained in the SK from the 2026 KSBSI Rakernas. Following a series of discussions, an exchange of ideas, and a discussion of various strategic organizational issues, the formulation and agreements of which were made at the Rakernas forum serve as a foundation for further progress.
“This concerns our future and also the future of Indonesian workers. KSBSI National Working Meeting Decree number one is about the participant forum, KSBSI National Working Meeting Decree number two is about the event agenda, KSBSI National Working Meeting Decree number three is about support for the labor law to be fought for in the Indonesian House of Representatives. KSBSI National Working Meeting Decree number four is about continuing the financial management strategy for the sustainability of the organization and SK number five is the National Working Meeting Decree regarding the appointment of Police General Dr. Listyo Sigit Prabowo M.Si as an honorary member of KSBSI,” said Elly in front of General Sigit, Labor Figures, Pelindo President Director, other invited guests and KSBSI National Working Meeting participants on Friday (28/8/2026)
Meanwhile, the KSBSI National Working Meeting Decree Number Six concerns recommendations for amendments to Ministerial Regulation Number 11 of 2026 concerning Supervision of the Ministry of Manpower of the Republic of Indonesia.
“This is the decree, Sir (Chief of Police), that we have decided,” she concluded.
Elly explained to General Listyo Sigit that this national working meeting is an annual agenda stipulated in the articles of association and bylaws (AD/ART), which is mandatory and must be implemented by the KSBSI National Executive Board at least once a year.
“To conduct evaluations, consolidate, and make decisions, determining the direction of KSBSI’s future struggles, including appointing you as our member,” she concluded.
Workers Must Be Ready
Meanwhile, General Listyo Sigit, who was appointed an honorary member of KSBSI, expressed his appreciation and gratitude.
“I would also like to express my gratitude for the invitation to close the KSBSI national working meeting, which I found to have an extraordinary theme: ‘Building the Competitiveness of Indonesian Workers amidst Changing Global Economic Regulations.’ Of course, this is also something we’ve been discussing for some time now, every time we meet, how we’re preparing our competencies and competitiveness,” he said.
To face the global situation that requires quality human resources and competencies from KSBSI, according to General Sigit, Indonesian workers must be truly prepared to face the changing times, including facing various technological challenges and remaining present and competitive with other countries. Indonesian workers must also prepare themselves as best as possible.
“Some time ago, I said that we are indeed facing a very difficult global situation. And also a changing landscape,” explained General Sigit.
Referring to the technological journey from the industrial revolution to the developments in the five-point revolution, with technological developments and capabilities ranging from robotics to Artificial Intelligence (AI), General Listyo Sigit reminded the workers of their role in surviving this situation.
“On the one hand, this data (technological development) has the potential to significantly reduce the workforce. But on the other hand, the digital transformation being implemented has also created approximately 170 million new jobs worldwide. How can we all be prepared to face this so that despite technological advancements, workers remain the heart of the industrial journey and future industrial development?” he explained.
According to General Sigit, the spirit of the workers’ unions to continue to exist, continues to encourage Indonesian industry to truly continue to run well and develop.
“This is also supported by several regulations and rules prepared or pushed by the government to encourage, protect, and improve the human resource competency of our fellow workers, and most importantly, how to provide protection and improve their welfare,” he explained.
“Starting from the Government Regulation (PP) regulating wages, then regarding the protection of domestic workers, then regarding the ratification of conventions related to employment issues in the fishing sector, including social security programs. Of course, one of the most crucial issues right now is that our fellow workers, together with the government, the House of Representatives (DPR), and employers, are currently pushing for the Job Creation Law, which is expected to truly address workers’ hopes, increase worker protection, and, of course, improve the quality of worker welfare. This includes addressing nine crucial issues that our fellow workers are currently championing,” concluded National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
